Siblings In Canada Day Spotlight

There was no sibling rivalry between Oppies Artist and Oppies Lifes Line on Canada Day at Inverness Raceway as both pacers got their turn in the spotlight.

Oppies Artist prevailed off a pocket trip in the featured $1,250 Winners Over Pace, defeating favourite Future Million by one and three-quarter lengths in 1:58.2 for trainer/owner Heather Hawkins. The seven-year-old gelding remains undefeated at Inverness this year. Gerard Kennedy has driven the pacer for all four of his wins.

Oppies Artist's victory in the top class followed younger sister Oppies Lifes Line's win two races prior. Sent off as the longest shot on the board, the six-year-old mare prevailed by a nose over Star Secrets in 2:02.3 for trainer/driver Joseph Poirier and owner Madison Poirier. The win was her second in a row.

Half-siblings Oppies Artist (sired by Modern Art) and Oppies Lifes Line (sired by Life Sign) are both out of the Direct Scooter mare Armbro Opponent. They last faced each other in a race on June 14 at Inverness with Oppies Artist edging by his sister for the half-length win.
