Wildfire Blazes Again At Pompano

Wildfire and driver Dan Clements returned to the top of the heap in the $8,500 Isle Mile Open Handicap Trot with an outstanding 1:55.4 effort on Wednesday at Pompano Park.

My Revenuer, last week's winner in the class, had to settle for the runner-up spot this time in spite of a pocket trip with Bruce Ranger in tow while Mr Party Man followed in for third with Tom Sells in the bike.

Joe Kroll trains Wildfire for owners Leah and Ron Schaefer of Weirsdale, Florida. The five-year-old daughter of Famously-Giant Wonder is in the midst of a career-best year as she's earned nine wins in 19 starts for a 2012 bankroll of more than $41,000.

Early wagering on the Belmont Stakes begins on Friday, June 8 at The Isle Casino simulcasting centre. For Belmont Stakes day on Saturday, June 9, all simulcasting facilities will be open early at 11 a.m. as I'll Have Another chases the title of Triple Crown champion for the first time in 34 years in thoroughbred racing.
