A 16-race slate of two-year-old qualifiers went postward at Mohawk Racetrack on Friday morning with Team McNair unleashing some impressive rookies.

All told, McNair pupils captured five of the morning's events. Pedigree-wise, the most notable performer of the winning quintet was Pleasant Beauty. A two-year-old full sister to O'Brien Award winner Precocious Beauty and three-quarter sister to North America Cup winner Sportswriter, Pleasant Beauty was a gate-to-wire winner in the morning's fourth qualifer for driver Doug and trainer Gregg McNair. Pleasant Beauty (Art Major - Precious Beauty) is owned by breeder Jim Avritt of Lebanon, KY.

The fastest McNair pupil of the morning was Backstreet Shadow. An $82,000 Forest City Yearling Sale purchase, Backstreet Shadow (Shadow Play - Backstreet Sweetie) made every call a winning one en route to an eight-length 1:56 score for the McNairs and owners Lindsey & Connie Rankin of Lexington, Mich.

Also crossing the wire first for the McNairs on Friday morning: Gideon Seelster (Big Jim - Glowing Killean) in 1:57.4; Sudden Passing (Mach Three - Gold Not Silver) in 1:57 and Shadowofhersmile (Shadow Play - Frown Upside Down) in 1:58.3.
