Stakes Triple For Campbell Thursday

Monticello Raceway showcased a hefty card of 14 races Thursday afternoon, featuring New York Sire Stake action for two-year-old trotting colts.

On the card were five $22,000 splits of NY Sire Stakes, four $15,000 divisions of the Excelsior A and two $6,600 races for the Excelsior B. John Campbell had three winners on the afternoon’s card, while owners Ted Gewertz and Wanda Polisseni both enjoyed two winners on the afternoon.

In the first $22,200 dash, Such An Angel went wire-to-wire in 2:01:1. The son of Credit Winner sprinted home in :29.1 to post the win for partners Samuel Caruso and Wanda Polisseni. The Paul Kelley pupil was driven by Sam Caruso. The $110,000 yearling purchase has three wins in as many starts.

The undefeated Barn Winner scored in impressive fashion for driver Jeff Gregory. Lindy The Second led the field through fractions of :30, 1:00 and 1:30, but Barn Winner fired home in 28:3 to post the 2:00 score over Devious Man and Lindy The Second. Steven Pratt is trainer and co-owner along with Out In The Country Stable.

Odeon Bluechip left fastest from the gate in the third division and showed the way out of the first turn before Zacks Zoomer (Deweycheatumnhowe) pulled the two-hole and quickly took the lead before the quarter. He reached that marker in 30 and then the half in 1:00:2 before Volare made a bold move and challenged the leader. Zacks Zoomer and driver Andy Miller withstood the pressure and the Erv Miller trainee scored by 1-1/4 lengths over Volare in 1:59:3 for owners Miller & Eisman.

Aces And Eights enjoyed a two-hole trip behind Neon Lights through fractions of :30.3, 1:01.2 and 1:31.2 in fourth division before blowing by that foe in the closing strides. Trainer/driver Dan Daley tipped the son of RC Royalty to the outside in the lane and Neon Lights kicked home in :28.4 to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Shaq To The Rack in 2:00.3. Southwind Cruze was third. The partnership of Daley, Crawford, Lombardo and Brooks own the youngster.

Money Macintosh was a two-length winner in the final division for Team Miller – driver Andy and trainer Julie. The son of Credit Winner was parked past the quarter pole before he secured the lead. He through middle panels of 1:01.2 and 1:31.3 before using a :29 kicker for the 2:00.3 decision over American Cheque and Meetmeinthemiddle. Money Macintosh is owned by Story Inc of Millstone Township, NJ.
