The Woodbine Entertainment Group has announced that Mitch Marner, the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Player of the Year and Toronto Maple Leafs top prospect, will be the guest drawmaster for the 2016 $1 million Pepsi North America Cup.

The Pepsi North America Cup post position draw will be held on Tuesday, June 14 at Mohawk Racetrack, and Marner, 19, will be on hand to assist with the festivities. The media event will get underway at noon.

Marner just wrapped up a memorable and historic championship season with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The Thornhill, Ont. native led the Knights to the 2016 OHL Championship with 44 points in 18 games and followed it up by scoring 14 points in four games to help his squad capture the Memorial Cup in Red Deer, Alberta.

Marner’s tremendous season was recognized with multiple awards, including CHL Player of the Year, OHL Player of the Year, OHL Playoffs MVP and Memorial Cup MVP.

Last June, Marner was selected fourth overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 5’11 right-winger is considered one of the Maple Leafs top prospects and key pieces heading into the future.

Along with his outstanding play in the OHL this season (116 points in 57 regular season games), Marner also represented Canada at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships in Helsinki, Finland.

Marner is active on social media and can be followed on Twitter @Marner93.

The 33rd edition of the Pepsi North America Cup will be held on Saturday, June 18 at Mohawk Racetrack.
