Dreams Beachboy ($2.90) cruised to a win in the $6,000 featured pacing event during the special Father's Day (June 17) matinee at Vernon Downs.
Major Bucks (Claude Huckabone III) led the field through a first quarter of :27.4, but it was all Dreams Beachboy after that, taking the lead before a :58.1 half and cruising through closing fractions of 1:25.2 and 1:52.2 en route to a six-length score. Major Bucks held second, with Prince Pinang (Artie Dick) getting third.
Trainer Gates Brunet drove 19-time winner Dreams Beachboy, a six-year-old Somebeachsomewhere gelding, for Crawford Farms Racing.
Truman Gale had three driving wins on the card, teaming up with Coopers Beach ($3.50), JDs Brent N Sheree ($3.00) and Card Knock Life ($40.20).
Jimmy Whittemore continues his strong season, leading all drivers in wins with 26 and trainers in wins with 15. John MacDonald is second in both categories.
Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Friday (June 22) at 6:10 p.m.
