A pair of $11,000 Preferreds – one for trotters and one for pacers – highlighted Tuesday’s 10-race card at Georgian Downs, with Brocks Fortune and Slip Into Glide winning their respective assignments.

Brocks Fortune, in rein to Ryan Holliday, shot to the top and never looked back in the Preferred 2 for horses and geldings. The five-year-old son of Stonebridge Regal-Fannies Fortune led through fractions of :27, :56 and 1:24.2 before using a :29.1 closing panel to stop the clock in 1:53.3. Cluster Hanover’s late bid fell short by a half-length margin, with Twin B Wrangler taking home third prize.

John Cecchin trains the pacer for Mark Austin Stables Inc of Fergus, Noblock Racing Stable of Collingwood and Robert Chapple of Chatham, Ontario. To date, the homebred has potted more than $280,000 in career earnings. He’s now 3-for-9 this season.

Slip Into Glide shipped in looking for a confidence builder following some poor performances on the WEG circuit, and that’s exactly what he produced for Team Baillargeon. The seven-year0old son of Yankee Glide-Balanced Breeze got away sixth for Mario Baillargeon, before making a first-over bid on the way to the half. Spartan Victory threw down first-half fractions of :28.2 and :58.1, but he gave was to Slip Into Glide at the three-quarter pole in 1:26.2. Slip Into Glide then used a :28.1 kicker to win by 4-1/2 lengths over Totally Ripped in 1:54.3. Spartan Victory faded to finish third.

Trainer Ben Baillargeon of Rockwood co-owns the gelding with Craig Turner of Ingersoll, Ontario, and together they’ve watched the veteran post 27 career wins while hauling home more than $530,000 in earnings.

Climb Higher earned the Baillargeons another trip to victory lane thanks to his come-from-behind tally in the $7,500 Preferred 3 for trotters. The four-year-old son of Muscle Hill-Cheese Danish wore down the tempo-setting Dragin The Wagon and fended off Lady Dynamite to win in 1:57. Lady Dynamite completed the Exactor ticket, with Dragin The Wagon finishing third.

Mike Wassilyn of Rockwood, Ontario owns the seven-time winner, who now boasts a bankroll of $55,440. From 11 starts this season he now owns a 3-2-1 record.
