Casimir Overdrive Scores At Georgian

Moving off the WEG circuit, Casimir Overdrive ($14.90) earned his first Georgian Downs victory off a second-over trip in Sunday night's featured $11,000 Preferred 2 Pace.

Driven by Alfie Carroll for trainer Victor Puddy, Casimir Overdrive caught cover down the backstretch and then fanned three-wide turning for home en route to the 1:55.2 victory. The 6-1 shot prevailed by three-quarters of a length over 6-5 favourite McKinney, who closed up the passing lane from the pocket. Thorn In Your Side, the leader through fractions of :28.1, :57.3 and 1:26.1, finished one length behind in third.

The four-year-old son of Tigerama earned his second win from seven starts after being claimed in late-April at Mohawk Racetrack for $31,250 by Gordon McDonald and Christopher Boland. He's on his way to earning back in claiming price, having since banked $24,180.

Real Rocker ($3.50) nosed out Saulsbrook Peach for a 1:53.3 victory in the $7,500 Preferred 3. Jonathan Drury drove the six-year-old Rocknroll Hanover gelding, who won his debut from the Carmen Auciello stable, for owners Brett Riley, Brenda Lane and Amanda Riley.

Sunday's second-leg Alliance Spring Claiming Series trot winners included Shes All Magic ($11.50, Per Henriksen), Emmalulu ($5.40, Alfie Carroll) and Mr Montgomery ($3.50, Doug Brown). Emmalulu and Mr Montgomery doubled up in the series.
