Ocean Downs' 40-date meet is scheduled to kick off on June 19, and with the state of flux and uncertainty the Maryland harness racing industry has been forced to deal with over the past few years, it is safe to say that there will be a transition period this summer

An article by Delmarva Now! has gone in depth to shine a light on the current state of Maryland's standardbred racing industry, which has seen its horsepeople hang on for a wild ride many racing jurisdictions have been forced to brace for.

"I think there is going to be a transition period where people are getting back on their feet," Cloverleaf Standardbred Owners Association VP A. Daniel Myer was quoted as saying in the article in regard to the upcoming meet at Ocean Downs. "A lot of Maryland owners and trainers have suffered from a lack of racing opportunities. It will take a while, but hopefully new people will start getting involved in the sport."

Live racing at Ocean Downs will begin on Sunday June 19. Four nights of racing weekly will follow, on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Ocean Downs' live season will end on Sunday, August 28. First-race post time for each card will be at 7:00 p.m.
