A two-hole trip was parlayed into a solid score by Leafs And Wings in Tuesday’s $11,000 Horses & Geldings Preferred 2 at The Raceway at Western Fair District.

With Scott Wray at the lines, Leafs And Wings got away in the garden spot and managed to track tempo-setting Cluster Hanover through fractions of :28.2, :59 and 1:27.3 over a track rated ‘good’ with a two-second variant. Leafs And Wings found room in the lane and used a :29-second closing quarter to prevail by 1-1/4 lengths over Cluster Hanover in 1:56.4. Si Semalu rallied off cover to grab the show dough.

Mike Rogers trains the eight-year-old son of Rambaran-Rockton Road for owner/breeder Gregory Rogers of Auburn Hills, Michigan. It was the fourth win of the year for the 33-time winner who upped his lifetime earnings to $381,569 with the victory.

Sky Desperado went to the front and didn’t look back in the $8,300 Horses & Geldings Preferred 3 for the duo of driver Billy Davis, Jr. and trainer Patrick Shepherd. The gelding tore through splits of :28.3, :59 and 1:27.4 before cruising home in :30.1 en route to the 1:58 decision. Runner-up Conflict Diamond was 2-1/4 in arrears, while Bestofthebunch was third.

The six-year-old son of Lis Mara-Armbro Sizzle improved his 2015 record to 3-4-1 from 13 trips to the track with the win. The 19-time winner, who is owned by Platinum Stakes Mgt Inc of Cambridge, Ontario, has banked close to $215,000 to date.
