Federal Army flew to the lead and never looked back en route to a 1:59.4 score in Thursday’s $7,500 Preferred 3 for trotters at Flamboro Downs.

Trainer/driver Bruce Richardson hustled Federal Army to the lead from Post 2, and together they sliced out splits of :29.4, 1:00.2 and 1:30 before using a :29.4 closing quarter to win by three-quarters of a length over Unabating. Race favourite Totally Ripped was third.

Richardson owns the six-year-old son of Federal Flex-Authenticate with Peter Irwin of Ayton, Ont. The gelding owns a 4-3-3 record from 15 starts this season. He’s a 19-time winner with earnings in excess of $112,000.
