Gallant co-owns with Eric Johnston, it was one of two winners for trainer-driver Gallant who also won with Shady Kowalski for Johnston.

In the evenings trot class it was J K Queen who laid down fractions of :29.2, :59.1 and 129.3 before fending off the finishing kick from veteran Caliban Hanover for a half-length victory in 2:03.1 for owners Norman Clarey and Joe Smallwood. Walter Cheverie handled the driving duties for trainer Smallwood.
