Adler To Get Behind The Mic Once Again

It has been announced that longtime Windsor Raceway race-caller Marty Adler will be stepping back into the announcer's booth.

Hazel Park Raceway's 61st season of harness racing will get underway Friday, May 3 at 7:35 p.m. It won't take long for fans to notice a big change, as Adler will be in the announcer's booth.

"We are very fortunate to have someone like Marty Adler join us here at Hazel Park this year," said Ken Marshall, the director of operations at the suburban Detroit racetrack. "He's been so well known in this area for years, and we hope too that he will help bring some of his strong Canadian following with him. He will be a real asset for our live race meet. Although we haven't heard his voice since the closing of Windsor Raceway, he has never lost his enthusiasm for live racing."

Adler replaces Mike Bozich, who was hired as announcer at Cal Expo after he resigned his position to move closer to his family in California. As a result of the closing of Windsor Raceway last year, Adler was available to move into the Hazel Park announcer's booth that was also the home of the late Jack Riggs for decades until his retirement in the early 2000s.

"I am really excited about this opportunity, as Hazel Park is one of North America's major racetracks," said Adler. "When one door closes another one opens, and I am thrilled that I was able to stay in the same market. I know Michigan racing very well and am very familiar with many horsemen who came over to race at Windsor. Plus, there is a real sense of commitment on behalf of Hazel Park management to continue the positive trend the live race meet has shown over the past few years."

Following Friday night's opening, Hazel Park will race a three-night-per-week schedule on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The 54-date meet will close on Labour Day, Monday, September 2, with a special afternoon race card. Also highlighting the meet is the $100,000 William Connors Memorial Trot for three-year-old colts on Friday, July 12. The Connors eliminations are scheduled for Friday, July 5, with that special 6:30 p.m. program capped off by a spectacular fireworks display.

Go get em Marty, your the best. It's about time Hazel Park got a colorful announcer like you!!!!!!

Way to go Marty. I guess we just lost another personality to the USA. Sad, but true. We will soon be seeing many more follow along.

Congratulations Marty, Ontario’s loss is Michigan’s gain. It just goes to show you can’t keep a good Wingham boy down for long. All the best!
