The post position draw for the 2014 Elitlopp, scheduled for next Sunday, May 25 at Sweden's Solvalla Racecourse, was held yesterday (May 18) in Stockholm.

O'Brien Award winning trotting mare Maven drew post six in the first elimination heat with Quebec native Yannick Gingras set to drive for trainer Jonas Czernyson and owner William Donovan. The five-year-old Glidemaster-M Stewart mare won 10 of 14 stakes races last season and kicked off her 2014 campaign with a 1:53.3 victory in the Miami Valley Distaff on May 4 at Miami Valley Racetrack.

Uncle Peter will start from post three in the second elimination heat with David Miller returning to the sulky for trainer Jimmy Takter. The son of Cantab Hall-Victory Treasure is owned by Toronto brothers John and Jim Fielding along with Brixton Medical Ab, Goran Falk and Takter's wife Christina. Uncle Peter won his last North American start on May 2 in 1:52.1 at The Meadowlands before finishing fifth in Denmark's Copenhagen Cup.

The field does not include a Canadian representative this year, but another horse with related ties is Truculent, bred by Ottawa's River Ridge Farm. He will start just outside of Maven.

Defending Elitlopp champion Nahar drew the outside post eight in the first elimination while recent Copenhagen Cup winner Caballion will start from post six in the other heat.
