Two tragic losses turned into a Mother's Day miracle when Brad Wilson of Sarnia, Ont. came to the rescue recently. Wilson’s mare, Anything But Luck had just lost her third foal in a row. Meanwhile, at Tara Hills Stud in Port Perry, Ont., the farm’s mare Janie G had lost her life foaling a Credit Winner colt.

Tara Hills owner David Heffering put the word out on the Standardbred Canada Nurse Mare page that Tara Hills was in need of a nurse mare and Wilson reached out. After a quick conversation, Heffering jumped in the truck and headed to Sarnia to pick the mare up and then our colt in Milton. When Tara Hills staff introduced them back at the farm, the colt was nursing in 30 seconds. It was truly a Mother’s Day miracle.

Now Tara Hills needs your help naming the colt. The winner will receive a $200 gift card and a chance to meet the drivers participating in the World Driving Championship at a luncheon at Tara Hills on Aug. 15.

Please email your name suggestions to [email protected]. All submissions are due by May 26.
