It has been reported that 'a demonstration of sorts' is in the planning stages because the Ontario Racing Commission has yet to approve the proposal for an increase in 2013 race dates for the Leamington Fairgrounds.

CBC News has cited horseman Tom Bain, who is also the Warden of Essex County and the Mayor of Lakeshore, as saying that frustration is mounting over the situation.

"We've had our lawyer fire off a letter of protest," Bain was quoted as saying.

"Our group is frustrated. We've done everything the ORC has asked of us," Bain added.

The Lakeshore Horse Raceway Group, which Bain is a part of, is hoping to ultimately bring a not-for-profit harness raceway to Lakeshore.
