Trevor Henry wasted no time sending Mach It Big to the lead in Monday’s $13,200 Preferred Pace at The Raceway at The Western Fair District, and once the Richard Moreau pupil got there he just kept on rolling en route to an impressive victory.

Mach It Big, a five-year-old son of Mach Three-Belinda Hanover, sprinted to the lead from Post 3 and had the field lined up behind him through intervals of :26.1, :55.3 and 1:24 before using a :29.1 final quarter to seal the deal by four lengths in an impressive clocking of 1:53.1. Rock On Moe, who was assigned Post 7, was second best after being treated to a two-hole trip. Leafs And Wings rallied to finish third.

Sent off as the 4-5 favourite, Mach It Big won for the fourth time this season and for the 18th time in his career for owners Keith & Deborah Cassell of Smiths Falls, ON. The pacer has banked $275,513 to date.

On the heels of back-to-back runner-up performances in the $8,400 Preferred 2 class, Kendal Gustav got all the marbles in Monday’s assignment for the tandem of driver Lorne House and trainer Scott McNiven. The four-year-old son of Life Sign-City Of Dreams brushed to the front in the third quarter of the contest and drew clear to win by five lengths over Classic Call in 1:55. Third prize went to a rallying Fleet Sensation.

The gelding, who is owned by McNiven along with partners Tom Broadhurst of London and Shirley Griffin of St. Thomas, ON, now owns a 3-5-2 record from 15 trips to the track this season. The 13-time winner pushed his lifetime earnings to $95,528 with the win.

Monday’s card also offered a set of $5,600 Preferred 3 affairs, with top honours going to Lawmen Reign (1:55.2 – trainer/driver Ross Battin) and Machness (1:57.2 – Lorne House/Scott McNiven).
