Canada's early season leaders have held their ground one-third of the way into 2017. Trot Insider shares a leaderboard update highlighting the top drivers and trainers so far this year.

WEG Circuit regular Doug McNair has maintained his early season lead atop the drivers standings for earnings, although newcomer Louis-Philippe Roy is quickly closing in. McNair has driven horses to $1,467,772 in purse earnings through the first four months of the year while Roy's mounts have banked just shy of $1.4 million.

Top Flamboro and Western Fair driver Bob McClure has continued his early winning momentum and has earned 165 victories as Canada's leading race winner in 2017 -- 33 more than Roy, also a runner-up in the win category.

Four-time Canadian Trainer of the Year Richard Moreau, based in Puslinch, Ont., tops all trainers in the nation for both wins (78) and earnings ($1,161,848). Travis Cullen has moved into second-place for earnings, with his stable accumulating $627,959 in purses.

Serge Masse recently concluded the Fraser Downs meet with an eye-popping driving URS of 0.606 while Western Fair front-runner Craig Gilmour's 0.468 URS is still best among all trainers in Canada.

**All statistics include Canadian starts from January 1, 2017 to April 30, 2017.
