NDP MPP France Gelinas has gone on the record questioning the OLG's modernized gaming strategy ending Ontario's Slots-At-Racetracks program, calling it "wrongheaded"

.

According to a CBC News Sudbury article, Gelinas does not agree with putting the province's slots facilities in private hands.

“There's a ton of red flags that goes on,” Gelinas was quoted as saying in the article. “I don't think this is what Ontarians want. And I think this is wrongheaded policy.”

The NDP party is currently seeking feedback on the Ontario Budget, which outlines how the government expects to increase revenues through the OLG's modernized gaming strategy.

The party has heard from more than 30,000 Ontarians through email, in person and via telephone calls and town hall meetings, according to an email sent out on Wednesday afternoon by NDP leader Andrea Horwath. The email states that feedback has been on various different issues, but the overarching theme is that "people don’t feel that this budget treats everyone fairly."

"The Budget needs to be fair for everybody not to make the challenges facing households worse," wrote Horwath in the email. "New Democrats are not drawing lines in the sand. We’re listening to you and we’re urging the other parties at Queen’s Park to do the same."

GREAT IDEA by Nino Dechellis and I would take it another step further. I didn't agree with the platform of the BLOC QUEBECOIS, but their clout in the house of commons was significant. Ontario needs another party, perhaps called THE BUSINESS PARTY.

What if we ran our own candidates in a number of rural ridings and made sure they held the balance of power. Also I would bet that we could definitely oust Dwight Duncan from his riding since he is down in Windsor and not too popular there. That slogan is easy-GET RID OF DWIGHT DUNCAN.

Remember, the BLOC QUEBECOIS never intended to run the country because they only had candidates in Quebec. They just wanted to insure minority governments and their own agenda by having enough votes to get special treatment in every budget. 7 or 8 seats would be plenty.

That's how politics really works.

I think its time to fight fire with fire. By all accounts both the PCs and the NDP are financially strapped and can ill afford an election. This is where us 60,000 horsepeople come in. Lets start a fundraising campaign to help bankroll whatever party will back us. Its simple math. I know that not all 60,000 horsepeople can afford to donate however, I am quite sure that a large number of us who can including yours truly. Let see....if 10,000 people donate $1,000 each that is $10 million right there. If another 10,000 people can contribute $500 each that is another $5 million and so on. Also I would assume that there has to be at least 500 people/organizations (top drivers/jockeys, top trainers, vets, breeding farms, feed companies, farming organizations, truck/trailer dealerships, etc) who can easily afford - better yet cannot afford not to - contribute lets say an average of $20,000 each for another $10 million to the cause. Lets circle the wagons and united so that we can win this battle. We would have to do this in an organized and unified manner. Since OHRIA is our voice in this war maybe all the contributions can be funnelled through them in some sort of a trust account. Just an idea. We have to do something!!!

I'm afraid the NDP is playing politics with the budget, they have not made one definitive statement about defeating the budget. Ms Horvath says she is open to negotiate with the government, this does not bode well for the horse racing industry.
The NDP have received 30,000 emails and calls "ON A VARIETY OF ISSUES"
The horse racing industry needs to make sure another 30,000 emails and calls are received by the NDP on the Slots at racetracks only!
Please every horse person in this province needs to email and call again and demand they show some back bone and defeat the budget to get rid of the Liberals and their attack on horse racing. And most important promise to vote for the NDP in the next election!
