CHRB Lifts Feed Ban

The California Horse Racing Board has received assurances from Purina that feed produced at their Turlock plant no longer contains zilpaterol.

Independent testing of the new Purina feed by the CAHFS toxicology laboratory at UC Davis was negative for zilpaterol in all samples submitted. Accordingly, the CHRB will allow CHRB licensed feed vendors to deliver any Purina products that were milled at Purina’s Turlock plant on and since March 27, 2013.

A report on the zilpaterol situation will be discussed at the Medication and Track Safety Committee meeting on April 10, 2013. The agenda for this meeting as well as earlier advisories pertaining to the feed contamination are available on the CHRB website (chrb.ca.gov).

Purina Mills Inc. is not affiliated with Agribrands Purina Canada Inc., which is the manufacturer of Purina brands in Canada.
