Jins Shark opened the Saturday night (April 29) harness racing card at Mohawk Racetrack with Canada's first sub-1:50 winning mile of the year.

Driven by Doug McNair for trainer Isaac Waxman, the six-year-old Four Starzzz Shark-Gordons Jin Ms gelding won the $22,000 opener for conditioned pacers in 1:49.4. In doing so, he lowered the Canadian season's record by one-fifth of a second, which was co-held by American Virgin, Champagne Phil and Dinner At The Met.

Jins Shark followed in fourth-place through opening panels of :26 and :54.3 while Champagne Phil (Jody Jamieson) overtook Mach Pride (Jonathan Drury) for the leading role. However, Jins Shark swept to the top down the backstretch and reached three-quarters in 1:23 before drawing off by five and a quarter lengths with a :26.4 final quarter. He paid $3.60 to win as the 4-5 wagering favourite. Riding a five-race win streak, First Car (Phil Hudon) advanced from the back of the six-pack to finish second ahead of Champagne Phil and Mach Pride.

Jins Shark, a career winner of 16 races and $238,049 with a mark of 1:49 flat, has won his last two of three starts competing from the Waxman stable. He is owned by Aaron Waxman and the Liv With Autism Stables.

The evening's $27,000 top-class event was won by the season-debuting Ontario Sires Stakes graduate Sintra ($9.40), who advanced first-over from the backfield and surged ahead of the leading Our Sky Major N (Jonathan Drury) during the third quarter (:26.3) en route to a four-length victory, timed in 1:50.4. Jody Jamieson drove the Mach Three-Dancin Barefoot gelding for trainer David Menary and his co-owners, Brad Gray and Michael Guerriero. Early leaver Mach Code (Sylvain Filion) finished second and Erle Dale N (Bob McClure) completed the top three finish order, while last week's Preferred winner, Dinner At The Met (Travis Cullen), chased Sintra's cover and finished fourth.
