According to a report by Harness Tracks of America, Pocono Downs President and CEO Bobby Soper yesterday made comments regarding an agreement which has been reached to erect a 300-room resort hotel
.
The report states that Soper told 'business leaders in the Wilkes-Barre area' that Pocono Downs' owner, Mohegan Sun, had reached an agreement with an unnamed hotel developer to build a $60-million facility.
The HTA report states that Mohegan Sun would manage and lease the facility with an option to buy.
Soper said a memorandum of understanding has not been signed, but he reportedly called it “less important” than the hotel developer obtaining the financing.
The HTA report cites Soper as saying that he hopes to have ground broken for the project this year.
