Grabbing control early, Pinky Tuscadero took the field around the track as she won the $10,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred 2 Pace going wire to wire in 1:57.1 at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Tuesday, April 24 over an off going.

The six-year-old Artistic Fella mare left for the front from post three and controlled the pace through a :29 opening clip. Teachers Vet, positioned third after starting from the second tier, edged wide into the stretch and drew within a length of Pinky Tuscadero moving to the half, timed in :59. Pinky Tuscadero and Teachers Vet continued their battle into the backstretch, while Top Royal and others attempted to pounce off cover heading past three-quarters, but hanged through the 1:27.4 clocking.

Pinky Tuscadero remained on the lead turning into the stretch. Teachers Vet stalled as she extended her lead heading to the line, winning by two-and-one-quarter lengths. Casino Classic, away last early, rallied through competition to take third.

Owned by Stephanie Horner and trainer Mark Horner, Pinky Tuscadero, winning her first race in 13 starts this season and her 19th in 112 overall, pushed her career bankroll to $184,538. Driven by Michael Horner, she paid $26.40 to win.
