Jim Morand mapped out a beautiful trip for Next Success in Thursday’s $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund final for three-year-old colt and gelding pacers at Dover Downs, and the Les Givens trainee didn’t let it go to waste.

Next Success got away third and sat a ground-saving journey behind tempo-setter Johns Dream and pocket-sitter All Artist. Johns Dream carved out panels of :26.3, :55 and 1:23.1, but he couldn’t seal the deal. Next Success found clearance in the lane and used a :29-second kicker to win by a half-length margin over heavily-favoured Johns Dream in 1:52.4. Third prize went to Power To Perform.

Sent off at odds of 7-1, Next Success improved his 2016 record to 2-1-2 from six starts while pushing his seasonal bankroll to $65,775. Henry Faragalli III, Nanticoke Racing Inc and Bay Pond Racing Stable share ownership on the son of Veeza-Quick Question, who now boasts an overall cash stash of $73,981.
