April Rose Romps In Preferred Trot

There was no stopping April Rose in Thursday’s $8,500 Preferred 3 for trotters, as the mare blew away the competition by more than six lengths for Team Hensley.

Ed Hensley, who co-owns the mare with his wife, Ashleigh, had the six-year-old daughter of SJs Caviar-Show Me The Bling parked and pressing Wildwild Men for the lead at the quarter pole in :27.3, and when that foe gave way April Rose swept to the lead and proceeded to carve out middle splits of :57 and 1:26.4. Her :29.2 closing quarter helped propel her to the easy score over Pollar Hall in 1:56.1. Azucar took home the show dough.

Sent off as the even-money favourite, April Rose improved her 2018 record to 3-2-0 from 12 trips postward. She pushed her lifetime earnings over $260,000 with the win.
