April Rose Rallies For Preferred Win

It was quite fitting the mare April Rose came out on top over the boys on International Women’s Day in the $8,500 Preferred 3 for trotters at Flamboro Downs.

April Rose got away sixth from her second tier post for driver/co-owner Ed Hensley, whole Fluff Me Up shot to the top and served up fractions of :28, :59 and 1:28.2. April Rose swung to the outside and caught cover going to the half, and Hensley hustled his charge three wide as the field stepped to the three-quarter pole. April Rose then used a :29.1 closing kick to win by a length over Azucar in 1:58. The show dough was earned by Honor Above All.

Trainer Ashleigh Hensley co-owns the six-year-old daughter of SJs Caviar-Show Me The Bling who now boasts a 2-1-0 record from seven starts this season. The 16-time winner has banked just shy of $250,000 to date.
