The win streak is now five-in-a-row and counting for Jim Ainsworth trainee Astreos Girl, who front-stepped to an impressive victory in the first round of the Silver Reign Pacing Series for three-year-old fillies at Woodbine

Racetrack on Monday evening.

With Rick Zeron at the helm, Shes Astreos marched to the top and laid down panels of :28, :57.4 and 1:27.2 before storming home in a :28-second clip to earn the career-best clocking of 1:54.1. Race favourite Pebble Creek came first-over and finished a game second to the 2-1 winner, with Lucky Cheryl rounding out the top three in the nine-filly affair.

Shes Astreos, who went 0-for-4 in her rookie campaign, has yet to be defeated this season for Ainsworth and partners Shelley Ainsworth and Martwest Racing Stable. Their homebred daughter of Astreos-Bonneville Hanover pushed her lifetime earnings to $22,380 with the win.

Round two of the Silver Reign Pacing Series goes next Monday at Woodbine, with the $60,000 final scheduled for Monday, March 22.

Zeron Involved In Spill

Just two races after winning with Astreos Girl, driver Rick Zeron was knocked out of the bike and eventually called it a night.

Medoland Glenno, who was sitting fourth for Zeron as the field was coming out of the first turn in Race 5, rolled into a break and jammed up a number of horses and drivers that were further back in the field. Yankee Luke and driver Keith Oliver couldn’t avoid running into the back over Zeron and his charge, and as a result Zeron was thrown from the bike.

All horses and drivers came out of the incident with no major injuries, however Zeron opted to book off the remainder of his drives just to be on the safe side.
