World champion Enough Talk made a sharp 2010 debut winning Friday’s $32,000 Invitational Trot in 1:52.2 at the Meadowlands Racetrack while KG Delight prevailed by a head over her entrymate in the matching Mares Invitational Pace

.

Enough Talk and Ron Pierce followed Green Day (George Brennan) through early stations of :27 and :56.2 before making the winning move. The seven-year-old Peter Kleinhans pupil grabbed the lead before three-quarters in 1:25.1 and used a :27.1 final frame to kick away by four and half lengths. Enough Talk stopped the clock in 1:52.2 with Green Day and 52-1 longshot One Mane Show S (Yannick Gingras) following under the wire.

The 7-2 third choice returned $9.60 to win.

Enough Talk’s 28th lifetime score bumped his bankroll to $1,196,887 for P Kleinhans Racing Inc. of Flemington, New Jersey and Jerry Silva of Long Beach, New York.

After an award-winning season in 2008 that included the fastest trotting mile of all time (1:49.3 at Colonial Downs), Enough Talk made just nine starts in 2009. His season ended with a disappointing performance in the Maple Leaf Trot on July 18.

"He's had some chronic issues that we've tried to baby," said Kleinhans "They're still around, but hopefully they're under control. If he can stay as sound as he was tonight, I think he'll have a good year."

Kleinhans will aim Enough Talk toward the Su Mac Lad Series, the Meadowlands' first stakes race of the season for free for all trotters, which begins Friday, April 2. Racing fans can look forward to an exciting match-up as Enough Talk takes on 2009 Older Trotter of the Year Lucky Jim in the series.

"We're looking forward to the challenge," Kleinhans said. "Last year, Enough Talk never really got to show his best race against Lucky Jim. Hopefully he'll have that opportunity this year."

After pulling off 24-1 upset with Captain Primeau in the eighth race, Pierce scored a hat trick with KG Delight in the Invitational Mares Pace.

Riley Rose (Tim Tetrick) landed the early lead ahead of Nights Kreeation (Yannick Gingras) and Sportsfancy (Brian Sears) during a :27.1 first quarter, but Sportsfancy made a backstretch brush and took over en route to the :55.4 half. At that point, Run On Luck (Andy Miller) tipped to the outside from fourth, providing KG Delight with cover, and moved up alongside the leader at the 1:24.3 three-quarters mark. Run On Luck challenged the leader down the stretch while Riley Rose tried to slip up the rail, but it was KG Delight who was able get up on the far outside with a :26.4 last quarter. She scored by a head in 1:52 over Sportsfancy and Run On Luck.

KG Delight paid $4.80 to win.

The Baron Racing Stable of Horsham, Pennsylvania owns the eight-year-old daughter of Northern Luck-Western Sweetheart. KG Delight, trained by Mark Kesmodel, has put together a record of 3-1-2 in 10 outings so far this year. The 27-time career winner has earned $46,510 of her $843,353 bankroll in 2010.

Pierce, who also guided Irak Attack N to victory in the 12th race, ended the night with a grand slam.

Meadowlands Pick Four Pays Record Amount

The Meadowlands Pick 4 paid a record $70,446 on Friday, March 26.

The winning ticket, which was purchased at New York City OTB, correctly chose was LR Dancing Dream [$16.40], Ms Maggie [$28.40], Captain Primeau [$50] and Gottogetoutmore [$9.60] to take down the entire $83,364 pool.

Offered nightly on Races 6 through 9, the Pick 4 is a "must bet" at the Meadowlands with its low 15 percent takeout, guaranteed pools ($35,000 Wednesday - Friday and $75,000 Saturday) and high return rate. The average Pick Four pool is $73,799, with an average payoff of $4,285. The wager has paid out more than $1,000 over 50 percent of the time since January 1.
