'Dragin' Goes Down The Road

Published: March 24, 2016 10:38 pm EDT

Dragin The Wagon marched to the lead, made four left turns and simply showed his heels to the field en route to a comfortable score in Thursday’s $7,500 Preferred 3 for trotters at Flamboro Downs.

With Anthony Haughan in the bike, Dragin The Wagon pushed forward when the gate sped away and he successfully led the group through fractions of :28.4, :59.4 and 1:30.3 before using a :30-second kicker to win by a length in 2:00.3. Call Me Richard was next best, with odds-on favourite Thundering Ovation finishing third.

Jeff Byron trains the six-year-old son of Angus Hall-Bridgeannika for the Cantelons – James, David and Michael. It was the first win of the year – and the 24th to date – for the career winner of $149,771.
