Fillies Battle At Dover In DSBF Prelims

The Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) preliminaries for three-year-old filly pacers got underway on Sunday at Dover Downs

, with Toms Toy, AJs Lilgamblngal and Little Bit Tricky scoring wins in their $20,000 splits.

Toms Toy, who captured the $100,000 DSBF final for two-year-old pacing fillies, breezed to a 1:55 victory in Sunday’s first split for driver Corey Callahan.

If was the fifth win in 10 lifetime starts for the Powerful Toy miss, who races for owner Tom Cooke and trainer Roger Hans. She knocked off Go Jackie Jo and Karens Destiny.

In the second DSBF prelim, Brandon Givens guided AJs Lilgamblngal to a 1:55.2 triumph over Wish You Were Me and Shes Everything.

Charles & Diane Coursey share ownership on the daughter of Gamblers Dream with trainer Wayne Givens, who watched the filly post her second win of the season in just three tries.

Eric Goodell and Little Bit Tricky sat a pocket trip behind race favourite Rustys Joy in the final division before overtaking that rival in the closing strides and posting a 1:55.3 victory. Rustys Joy held on to finish second and third prize went to CJs Crystal.

Jim & Bill Outten share ownership on the Badlands Hanover miss, who was making her first start of the season, with Green Racing Inc. of Milford, DE. Josh Green conditions the five-time winner.

The second leg of the DSBF for the three-year-old pacing fillies is scheduled for next Sunday at Dover Downs. The top eight finishers after the two weeks of preliminary races will have the chance to square off in the $100,000 final on Monday, April 6.
