"It scares the pants off you but once you have done it, you realize we're all born the same."

Once David Lindon lost a close friend to brain cancer, he vowed to make a difference and get involved with fundraising. The part-time horsemen likely had no idea it would involve stripping down to his birthday suit and swimming with a group of strangers.

As an article in the Hawkesbury Gazette explains, Lindon was encouraged by his daughter to participate in the 2017 Sydney Skinny, a fundraiser associated with noted Australian neurosurgeon Charlie Teo. Lindon committed to do so, and received some press from the harness racing community in advance of this year's plunge. With the donations from the racing industry, Lindon was able to donate more than $4,000 to the Charlie Teo Foundation while also donating all earnings from a recent second-place finish aboard Semi Sensation.

"It has been a resounding success. I have to take my hat off to my business associates, neighbours and the harness racing community," said Lindon. "Taking the clothes off was the easy part."

Lindon plans to design and wear Charlie Teo Foundation-themed racing silks to help create awareness for the fundraiser when he's fully clothed and at the racetrack.

"I'll be wearing those colours and encouraging people to do the same thing and raise more awareness and money for the foundation."
