Call Me Up went wire-to-wire and held off favourite Prairie Illusion in a photo finish to take the $10,500 Fillies & Mares Open on Friday night at Fraser Downs.

With James Burke driving for trainer Bill Davis, J J J Stables' Call Me Up ($15.40) left from post four and fronted the field through fractions of :28.2, :58.2 and 1:26.1 en route to the 1:55.1 triumph. Prairie Illusion sprinted home from the back of the five-horse field in :27.4 and nearly nabbed the win, but came up just a head short with the hot-handed Jim Marino in the sulky. Call Me Up's stablemate, Keep The Dream, finished one length behind in third.

Marino dominated Friday's 12-race card, steering home half of the evening's winners, including Spartacus Claiming Series champion Beach Boy Toy ($4.30) in 1:54.3. The nine-year-old gelding was claimed for $10,000 in the second leg of the series on Jan. 31 by Richard Knight and was part of the popular Scott Knight-trained entry.

Marino also won with Bush Baby ($5.10) for trainer Allan Molloy, Pureform Pandora ($16.50) for Travis Tracey, his own trainee Outlawishfulthinkn ($6.30), Jemmas Jet ($4.20) for Justin Currie and Canyacrackher ($5.30) for Nelson Craig.
