It wasn’t a particularly good night for the favourites in Wednesday’s opening leg of the Tender Loving Care Series at The Meadowlands, as Spoiled Beach and Treasure Keeper played the role of spoiler

in their respective $12,500 divisions.

The Linda Toscano-trained Spoiled Beach pulled off a 7-1 upset in the opening split for driver Ron Pierce. The 1:54.2 score was the second consecutive win for the three-year-old Camluck miss.

The homebred rallied from just off the pace to post the winning effort over Pebble Run and Smooth Silver. Moonlite Delite, who was sent off as the 1-5 choice, finished eighth in the 11-filly affair.

Enviro Stables Ltd. of Miami, Florida bred and own the pacer, who has banked $49,397 to date.

Treasure Keeper used a flashy final quarter clocked in :26.3 to post a 1:55.1 victory in the second division for the Miller brothers – trainer Erv and driver Andy.

The three-year-old homebred daughter of Western Hanover, who is owned by Brittany Farms of Versailles, KY, edged out Dingle Bay and race favourite Asolare Sunset. She has stashed away $18,610 in her career.

The second leg of the Tender Loving Care Series is scheduled to go next Wednesday evening at The Meadowlands, with the $60,000 (est.) final slated for Friday, February 20.
