Two of harness racing's heavy hitters from 2013 were reunited on Saturday, with one making his return to the track this Wednesday.

Driver Tim Tetrick got the thumbs-up to start driving again after having his left hip replaced in mid-December. He heads back to the bike this Wednesday at Dover Downs and will follow that up with drives on Thursday night at The Meadowlands.

Tetrick returns on the cusp of 8,000 career wins. He currently boasts 7,966 tallies along with more than $140-million in lifetime purses -- good for seventh all-time. In 2013, he recorded his seventh straight season with more than $15 million earned.

A test of sorts came on Saturday when Tetrick made the trek to trainer Tony Alagna's barn in New Jersey to help train some of Alagna's stock. One familiar face for Tetrick was pacing powerhouse Captaintreacherous, who had just returned to Alagna's barn on Thursday after being turned out for the winter in Kentucky at Brittany Farms.

Not eligible for O'Brien consideration after a 2013 with only two starts in Canada, Captaintreacherous is a repeat winner in the United States Harness Writers Association's Dan Patch Awards. In 2012, Captaintreacherous claimed Dan Patch Awards as best two-year-old male pacer and Pacer of the Year. At age three, he won 13 of 16 races and more than $2.06 million for the Captaintreacherous Racing ownership group.

He joined Rocknroll Hanover and Gallo Blue Chip as the only three-year-old male pacers to win a Breeders Crown, the North America Cup, and Meadowlands Pace in the same season.
