Hat Trick For Will Take Charge; Woodbine Cancels After Five

Not even after being assigned Post 8 by the race office could stop Will Take Charge from working his magic and finding his way to victory lane in Monday’s $34,000 Preferred Handicap for trotters at Woodbine Racetrack.

Will Take Charge shot to the top under the orders of driver Jody Jamieson, and together they splashed their way through panels of :27.1, :58 and 1:27 over a track rated ‘Good’ before using a :28.4 closing kick to win by three lengths over Big Rich in 1:55.4. Wild And Crazy Guy rounded out the Trifecta ticket in the eight-horse affair.

It was the third straight score for the five-year-old son of Kadabra-Celebrity Angel, who is owned by Mac Nichol of Burlington, Ont. Jeff Gillis trains the streaking gelding who now owns a 3-1-0 record from four starts this season. The 15-time winner recently surpassed $600,000 in career earnings.

Woodbine Racetrack was forced to pull the plug on the Monday evening card after five races due to deteriorating track conditions caused by the unseasonably warm temperatures and steady rainfall.

Live racing is scheduled to return to the Rexdale, Ont. oval Thursday evening at 7:10 p.m.
