It has been reported that the State of New Jersey has filed an appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court in an attempt to get the federal ban on legalized sports wagering overturned.

A report which appears on nj.com explains that the State of New Jersey filed the appeal last week, which was made public on Tuesday (Feb. 18).

The article states that roughly 10,000 appeals are filed every year, but the court choose to hear roughly 100 of the submitted arguments.

The report has quoted State Senator Raymond Lesniak, one of the law’s chief sponsors, as saying, "I think they’re going to take the case because it’s of great magnitude — of social issues that have been on the front burner of the Supreme Court in recent years."
