Kazimoto made a triumphant return to the races Thursday evening at Woodbine Racetrack, and that was music to the ears of the longshot players in attendance.

Having last raced on October 14, 2017, Kazimoto got away eighth in his return race with Trevor Henry in tow. He slipped to the outside going to the half while sitting seventh, and by the time the field reached the three-quarter pole he was fourth on the outside and tracking cover. Shadow Of Lindy carved out panels of :26.2, :55.4 and 1:24, but he lacked staying power late. Kazimoto powered off cover and fired home in :28.3 to win by a length over Humboldt in 1:53.1. Xpert Bayama was third.

Sent off at odds of 11-1, the Victor Puddy-trained Kazimoto celebrated his sixth career win for owner/trainer Mike Kwietniowski of Guelph, Ont. The four-year-old son of Caseys Bonanza-J M Clarice now boasts a bankroll that stands at $66,528.
