Will Shadow Play be able to step out of the shadow of arguably one of the best racehorses of our time, and make the transition from three to four? This morning, Shadow Play's co-owner and trainer Dr. Ian Moore has joined the Trot Blogs team to provide regular updates on his stable star

.

Moore is a Charlottetown, PEI veterinarian, who has been around horses since he was 12 years old and has trained Standardbreds most of his adult life. In addition to teaching veterinary courses during the week at Atlantic Veterinary College in Charlottetown he also trains a stable of horses.

While attaining recent Grand Circuit success with Astronomical and Impeccable, Moore entered the national harness racing spotlight in 2008 as the trainer and co-owner of the top three-year-old pacing colt Shadow Play. Shadow Play set a world record of 1:48.2f in winning his Adios elimination. He went on to win the $350,000 Adios Final the following week.

From there he never looked back - Shadow Play went on to be victorious in an elimination heat and the final of the Little Brown Jug (in a blistering stakes record 1:50 in the first heat and 1:50.1 in the final -- setting the world record for two heats). He also captured the Windy City Pace and American-National. He was second to Somebeachsomewhere in both the Breeders Crown and the Messenger. Shadow Play won 14 of his 25 season's starts and bankrolled over $1.1 million.

Racing fans were ecstatic to hear that the son of The Panderosa would be returning to the races in 2009, and SC is thrilled to have Dr. Moore on board as a blogger. We look forward to following the progress of Shadow Play throughout his four-year-old campaign.
