"I've always wanted to be the best and tried to be the best or close to being the best, but I didn't think that it would happen this quickly or the way it happened."

On today's edition of Trot Radio, Norm Borg talks to driver Marc Campbell as he heads into Saturday's card of harness racing at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. Campbell needs two more wins to set the record for most wins in a single season and has eight drives over the 12-race card.

The quest for the title will start in Race 3 where he’ll handle Armbro Dandelion. The eight-year-old mare, owned by David and Debbie Macmurdo of Kensington, PEI is the morning line favourite from Post 5. A victory here with the Stacey Lund trainee will tie the record set by Maritime legend Paul MacDonald.

"It's been 24 years since the record was established so it's pretty crazy," stated Campbell. "[Paul]'s an idol of mine, I really looked up to him growing up down here. To try and beat his record is pretty incredible."

Campbell discusses his thoughts on why the Maritimes and Prince Edward Island in particular produce so many good horsemen, his candidacy for the 2011 O'Brien Award of Horsemanship as well as his thoughts on possibly testing the waters in Ontario in the future.

"I really don't think so, I have a family here with two little kids, we have a house and everything. Everything's going pretty good right now. I was in Ontario before, I was up there for about six months or so and then I got hurt and I came back home," said Campbell. "I don't mind being the bigger fish in the little pond."
