Spartan Victory Wires Them Up

After coming up a head short in last week’s Preferred 3 assignment at Flamboro Downs, Spartan Victory went to the front and went the distance in Thursday’s follow-up try against similar foes.

Spartan Victory was rolled to the lead by driver Ryan Holliday, and the odds-on favourite successfully chopped out splits of :28.4, 1:00.1 and 1:29.2 en route to posting the neck decision over Mandeville in 1:59. Third prize in the trotting affair went to Seeyou Men.

Brad Pittock of London, Ont. trains and owns the 38-time winner who owns a 6-3-3 record from 21 trips to the track this season. He’s banked in excess of $36,000 this year and close to $270,000 to date.

Thursday night’s card also featured the opening leg of the Alliance Series for horse and gelding claimers. Pacing to victories in their respective divisions – each worth $4,400 – were Lightning Legs (1:57.3) and Likeavirgin (1:58.1).
