There is no doubt that handicappers took a second look at their programs after the $7,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 at Flamboro Downs on Wednesday (December 7), as Twin B Inspiring put forth a dominant display at odds of 37-1.
After having spotted the field almost 14 lengths early, Twin B Inspiring made up all the ground, and then some, as she proceeded to take off on the field and post a five and a quarter-length win in 1:55.3.
Trainer Jonah Moase had claimed the six-year-old Camluck mare out of a November 28 dash at Woodbine Racetrack, and the Wednesday mile was her first charted performance since the barn switch.
Nick Steward lined the 18-time career winner up in Post 6 on Wednesday and took the cautious approach early. Twin B Inspiring was almost 14 lengths off the engine at the :27.2 opening quarter pole, and was almost 11 lengths in arrears in seventh at the :56.3 half-mile pole.
Steward picked up the tempo with his mount in the third quarter, as the pair advanced to sixth in the frame and reduced their deficit to four and a quarter lengths by the time the three quarters pole flashed to life in 1:25.4.
The tempo setter in the race, Bestulldotanite, was feeling the heat at the head of the lane, as Twin B Inspiring and Trilife (driven by Scott Young) were gunning for the lead. Bestulldotanite faded in the lane while Twin B Inspiring threw it into another gear. The brown mare opened up on the field and zipped to a sharp, five and three-quarter-length win in 1:55.3. Trilife finished second, while Russian Kisses (Robert Shepherd) finished third.
Sent away at odds of 37-1, Twin B Inspiring paid $77.10, $20.10, $11.80 across the board. She topped a $240.60 exactor and spearheaded an $1,891.20 triactor.
