Top 3YO Retired To Breeding Ranks

It has been announced that one of the top trotters in North America is being retired to the stud ranks.

A report by the Democrat and Chronicle has cited Peter Arrigenna, the trainer and co-owner of Archangel as saying that the three-year-old Credit Winner colt has been retired due to a slight breathing ailment which hinders him during races.

Arrigenna was cited as saying that the issue is likely to blame for the colt's lack of late kick in his late-season stakes engagements.

The report has cited Arrigenna as saying that he will be saving one of Archangel's breedings so he can breed his new stud to Princess Deanna, the dam of his champion Tuesdays With Mom.

From 31 lifetime starts, Archangel compiled a record of 14-8-1 and took his mark of 1:53.1 over Vernon Downs. The black colt won 11 of 18 starts this year, including a win over Market Share in the $445,594 Yonkers Trot.
