Raising Richard Wins Rideau Feature

Raising Richard ($6.40) survived a first-over journey to win the $8,550 Winners Over Handicap Trot and give driver Darrell Coville a hat track on the Sunday night (December 3) program at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

Raising Richard advanced first-over after the opening quarter and wore down pacesetter Mego Moss (:28.2, :58.4, 1:27.1) en route to a three and a half length victory in 1:57.1. Unabating checked in second while Nebraska Jack finished third over Mego Moss.

Coville drove the five-year-old Deweycheatumnhowe gelding, who has earned 12 of his 32 career wins this year, for trainer Ed McHale and owners John MacMmillan and 2099551 Ontario Inc.

A pair of $8,250 Winners Over pacing divisions were won by Bestofbest Hanover ($8.30) and National Debt ($15.40), who each circled rivals to prevail in close finishes. Owned, trained and driven by Melanie Plourde, Bestofbest Hanover scored by half a length in 1:55.3 over The Love Bug and Ufdragons Rocket. National Debt out-finished favourite Nobettorplacetobe to win by a head in 1:54.1 with Stephane Brosseau aboard for trainer Yves Tessier and owner Francois Morin.
