Driver Phil Hudon is putting the 'phil' in philanthropy as he returns home to B.C. for a special holiday season guest appearance at Fraser Downs.

Trot Insider has learned that Hudon will be driving at Fraser Downs on Sunday, December 28 and Thursday, January 1. Hudon has graciously jumped on the Surrey Food Bank bandwagon and will donate his winnings from the card on Dec. 28 to the local charity.

"It's a good cause and it's going to be fun going back home," Hudon told Trot Insider, noting that it's been nearly 20 years since he left B.C. to drive in Ontario. "If you can make a few people better off for the holidays, that's great."

Hudon has racked up an impressive driving resume with more than $47 million in purses. He's nearing the 4,000 win plateau, something he'll likely reach in 2015 if he repeats on the success of this past season. Hudon has bounced back strongly and currently sits just outside of the national top 10 with 196 wins on the year -- more than his previous three years combined.
