14-Year-Old Takes The Lead

Anvil Raider N became the winningest horse in North America this year when he crossed the finish line in 1:57.1 in the ninth race on Saturday (December 21) at Northfield Park.

The victory was the 22nd this year for Anvil Raider N, who now holds a one-win lead over eight-year-old Ontario-sired Astreos mare Tracys Song in the 2013 North American standings.

Despite leading the continent in wins, this year will mark the final racing season for Anvil Raider N. The 14-year-old faces mandatory retirement on December 31 per the rules of racing.

Anvil Raider N (In The Pocket-Motu Sweet-Great Mann) is owned and trained by Will Johnson of Monroe, Michigan. Ronnie Wrenn Jr. was in the sulky for the winning drive.

Anvil Raider N has 94 career victories and has earned a bankroll of $347,422 with a lifetime mark of 1:51 taken as an eight-year-old at Mohawk Racetrack.
