Snowshoe Stakes Contested; Clark Dominates

Just as he’s done so many times in the past, Keith Clark absolutely dominated the Sunday card of racing Northlands Park.

Clark visited the winner’s circle five times over the course of the 10-race card, with three of the winners hailing from his own stable.

One his catch-driving scores came with Four Forty in the first of two $30,101 Snowshoe Stakes divisions for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings.

The heavily favoured son of Freedoms Pass staged a last-to-first sweep en route to securing the 1:58.4 score over Allbouttaj and Red Star Popeye.

The gelding, who has put together a 4-2-1 record in 12 starts, has banked in excess of $37,000 this season for trainer Lance Ward and partners Rob Ostashek Holdings Ltd. and Terry Ostashek.

Pauls Pass took the other $30,401 Snowshoe Stake division in a time of 2:01.2 for the duo of owner/trainer Travis Umphrey and driver Bill Tainsh Jr.

The son of Freedoms Pass, who was sent off as the 1-5 favourite, sat third through the first half of the mile before blasting to the top and driving off to win by more than five lengths over longshot Steveofdestruction. Son Of A Bishop rounded out the top three.

The gelding went 0-for-2 in his rookie season, but he has gone 8-3-0 in this year’s 16-star sophomore campaign. The lion’s share of the purse puts his lifetime bankroll over $47,000.
