American Ideal’s Book Full & Closed

Brittany Stallion Management announced Sunday that the book for American Ideal is now full and closed for the 2014 breeding season.

The World Champion racehorse and sire stands in New York at Blue Chip Farms for a fee of $10,000.

“American Ideal’s coming off yet another year of producing some great horses, and his yearlings were in demand, so I expected his book to fill pretty quickly,” said Brittany manager Art Zubrod. “But the support has been overwhelming, and we want to thank all the breeders who have called or emailed. He’s got some outstanding mares lined up for the breeding shed.”

Those “great horses” American Ideal has produced include 2013 World Champion two-year-old Hes Watching p,2,1:50f-1:52.2h ($291,722), who set world marks on both five-eighths-mile and half-mile tracks. He went undefeated through eight starts, all in stakes races, and won the $225,000 final of the New York Sire Stakes at Yonkers.

Hes Watching was the year’s top-ranked freshman pacer in the Hambletonian/Breeders Crown Standardbred Poll. According to industry press, he is among the top candidates for the 2014 three-year-old classics. Should he become a classics winner, he would join others his sire has already produced, including American Jewel, Heston Blue Chip, Idyllic and Romantic Moment.

On the sale side of the ledger, American Ideal yearlings sold for up to $160,000 last fall. He posted the largest increase in average from 2012 to 2013 among all pacing sires.
