The majority of the public’s money found its way to the nose of Windsun Revenge in Monday’s $34,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Racetrack, but Il Sogno Dream was three-quarters of a length better than the favourite at the finish line.

Il Sogno Dream, who was the second choice in the wagering at odds of 9-5, got away fourth while Windsun Revenge shot to the front and fired the first quarter in :27.4. Il Sogno Dream enjoyed cover behind Cash For Gold as the field headed past the half in :56.3.

Windsun Revenge and Cash For Gold continued their battle to the three-quarter pole in 1:24, and that skirmish took it’s toll on both performers. Il Sogno Dream tipped off cover at the head of the lane for driver Trevor Henry and scooted home in :28.2 to defeat Windsun Revenge in 1:53. Third prize went to Fearless Man who was treated to a pocket trip throughout the mile.

Victor Puddy trains the five-year-old son of Cantab Hall-Fill V for the partnership of Bill Manes, Dan Manes, Leonard Christopher and Randy Christopher. It was the trotter’s second win of the season and the 19th of his career. The $17,000 payday bumped his lifetime earnings to $956,875.
