In an interesting bit of self reflection, Randy Waples has gone on the record as admitting that he used to be a cocky guy. Although, the resident of Milton, Ont. has said that those days are behind him

.

In a piece by O'Brien Award winning writer Dave Briggs in the Guelph Mercury, Waples, a winner of 5,318 career races that has driven his mounts to over $93 million in purse earnings, has said that much has changed since his 2006 accident which left him with a laundry list of injuries.

“Your personality changes when you get older," Waples was quoted as saying. "There was a time that I was the youngest guy in that drivers’ room. I was the cocky guy. When I came back, there [were] lots of cocky guys. They didn’t need one more cocky guy. I went the other way. I decided that I didn’t need to talk the talk, I needed to walk the walk. I wanted my driving to speak for itself.”
