Fraser To Host Breeders Classic Day

A long-standing tradition at Fraser Downs Racetrack & Casino continues Sunday with more than $300,000 offered in purse money on B.C. Breeders Classic Day.

The 11-race card begins at 12:45 p.m. following a commemorative Remembrance Day salute to members of our Armed Forces who fought for our country in the First and Second World Wars.

The Breeders Classic competitions begin with the first of four $75,000 stakes in race two Sunday, the Robert Murphy for three-year-old colts and geldings with a field of eight, but just seven wagering interests. The morning line favourite is the Rick White entry of Gotta Have Nukes and Austinlavistababy starting from post positions six and seven.

Race five is the Betty Millbank for two-year-old fillies with a field of nine and an also eligible. The morning line choice is Judys Lass, co-owned by Jim Marino and Herb Boggs. Judys Lass has yet to finish worse than second in four starts.

The Robert Millbank for two-year-old colts and geldings goes as race seven with a field of nine and eight betting interests. Battle Station, trained and driven by John Hudon, is the early favourite.

Race nine is the Mary Murphy for three-year-old fillies with a field of nine. The early favourite is Fast Lane Wealth, trained by Kayla Mills and driven by Serge Masse.

Wagering on Fraser Downs Sunday, patrons will be invited to use their HPI cards for a 3 per cent cash back throughout the day. This offer is available only on Breeders Classic Day.

A reminder that horse players throughout British Columbia can now make 20-cent triactor wagers on both thoroughbred and standardbred races from Woodbine Racetrack until the end of 2012. You must have a $1 minimum wager on your ticket.

Five daily handicapping contests on Nov. 23, Nov. 24, Dec. 8, Dec. 9 and Dec. 15 will allow simulcast customers to qualify for a share of $2,500 on Sunday, Dec. 16. More details to come.
